Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Hayseed Capital, LLC, a Utah limited liability company that runs Lyle ("we," "us"). They cover meetlyle.com, the Lyle app, and messages you exchange with Lyle by text or Signal. By using Lyle, you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

Lyle is new

We're opening Lyle to a small group of homeowners first. Features will change, some will be added and some removed, and there may be interruptions while we work. We'll tell members about changes that matter to them.

Who can use Lyle

You must be at least 18 and able to agree to these terms. You should own the house you add, or have the owner's permission to keep its record.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You're responsible for what happens in your account, including what family members you invite do there. Give us accurate information.

What Lyle does, and what it doesn't

  • Lyle answers questions about your house, researches jobs and products, and keeps your house's record. The options and estimates we give are information to help you decide. They aren't quotes, inspections or guarantees.
  • We aren't contractors, inspectors, insurers, lawyers or financial advisers. When a job needs a licensed trade, we'll say so.
  • Contractors and other businesses we point you to are independent. You choose whether to hire them, and any agreement for their work is between you and them. We aren't responsible for their work, their prices or what they add to your record, though we'll help if something goes wrong.
  • We don't take commissions or referral fees from anyone we recommend.
  • Lyle uses AI and can get things wrong. Check anything important before you rely on it, especially anything to do with safety, like gas, electrical or structural work. In an emergency, call 911 or the right utility first.
  • Nothing Lyle proposes is saved to your record until you save it.

Fees

If we charge for Lyle, we'll show you the price and billing terms before you pay, and you can cancel before the next billing period. Payments are handled by Stripe.

Your information and your record

What you put into Lyle stays yours. You give us permission to store, copy and process it only as needed to run Lyle for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. When you send a contractor a link, you let them add to your record; when you share a link with an insurer or anyone else, you let them see what the link covers. You can turn links off at any time.

Don't upload anything you don't have the right to share, or anything unlawful.

Text messages

If you turn on texting, you agree to receive text messages from Lyle about your home at the number you gave us. Here are the terms:

  • Who sends them. Lyle, a home service of Hayseed Capital, LLC.
  • What they're about. Replies to your messages, proposed updates to your house's record waiting for your YES, confirmations, reminders you asked for, and sign-in or verification codes. No advertising.
  • How often. Message frequency varies with how much you write to Lyle.
  • Cost. Message and data rates may apply.
  • Stopping. Reply STOP to stop at any time. We'll confirm once and then stop. Reply START to turn texts back on.
  • Help. Reply HELP, or email hello@meetlyle.com.
  • Not required. Texting is never a condition of membership or of buying anything.
  • Delivery. Carriers aren't liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • Privacy. We don't share your mobile number or texting consent with anyone for their marketing. See the Privacy Policy.

Using Lyle fairly

Don't misuse Lyle. That means no trying to get into other people's accounts or records, no interfering with the service, no scraping or reverse engineering it, no using it to break the law, and no using it to build a competing product.

Ending

You can stop using Lyle and close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts others at risk, and we'll tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it. If we ever shut Lyle down, we'll give members at least 60 days' notice and a way to download their records.

Disclaimers

We work hard to make Lyle useful and accurate, but it's provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we don't make promises beyond what these terms say, including implied promises that Lyle will fit a particular purpose or never have errors or interruptions.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or damage caused by a contractor's work, and our total liability for any claim about Lyle is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

Disputes

If you have a problem, please write to us first at hello@meetlyle.com so we can try to fix it. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah. Any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Summit County, Utah, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it there.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and for changes that matter we'll tell members by email or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Lyle after that, the new terms apply.
