Lyle is a home service run by Hayseed Capital, LLC ("we," "us"). This policy covers meetlyle.com, the Lyle app, and messages you send Lyle by text or Signal. It says what we collect, why, who helps us run the service, and what you can do about it. If anything here is unclear, write to hello@meetlyle.com.

The short version: your house's information is yours. We use it to look after your house. We don't sell it, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't let the AI companies we work with train their models on it.

What we collect

When you join the list

Your name, email address, the ZIP code of your house, and anything you write in the optional note. We use it to write to you about Lyle and to decide where to open first.

When you're a member

  • Your account. Your name, email address and password. Passwords are stored by our sign-in provider in a form we can't read. If you turn on two-step sign-in, we store what's needed to check your codes.
  • Your house's record. Addresses, systems and appliances, service and repair history, costs, warranties, paint colors, household items and their values, and the documents and photos you upload.
  • What others add. When you send a contractor a link, what they upload goes into your record. When you share a read-only link with an insurer, we record each time it's opened.
  • Your conversation with Lyle. What you and Lyle say to each other in the app, by text and on Signal, including photos, documents and voice notes you send.
  • Lyle's notes. Lyle keeps two short notes: one about your house (like "the water shutoff is behind the furnace") and one about how you like to work (like "prefers text over calls"). You can read, edit or clear both at any time. Lyle doesn't keep door codes, alarm codes, passwords or bank or card numbers in its notes.
  • Your phone number and texting consent, if you turn on texting, and your Signal account number if you use Signal.
  • Family members you invite. Their name and email address, so they can sign in.
  • Security records. Sign-in events, the actions taken on shared links, and the internet address a request came from, used to keep accounts safe and to limit abuse.

On this website

meetlyle.com sets no cookies and runs no advertising or tracking scripts. Our host keeps standard server logs, such as internet addresses and pages requested, for security. The Lyle app uses cookies only to keep you signed in.

How we use it

  • To run Lyle: answer your questions, research jobs against your house's record, keep the record, and send you the messages you asked for.
  • To keep your account and the service secure, and to stop abuse.
  • To write to you about your account and, if you're on the list, about joining.
  • To improve the service. For that we use counts and the log of requests we handle, such as how long a request took. We don't read your conversations to improve the product unless you ask us to look at one or give us permission.

We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for advertising.

Who helps us run Lyle

We use a small number of service providers. Each gets only what it needs to do its job for us, under a contract that limits what it can do with your information.

  • Supabase stores your account, your house's record, Lyle's notes, your conversation and your files, in the United States.
  • Vercel hosts the app and this website.
  • Anthropic provides the AI model that powers Lyle. To answer you, Lyle sends Anthropic your message along with the parts of your house's record, notes and recent conversation it needs. Anthropic processes it under commercial terms that don't allow it to train its models on your information.
  • Google turns voice notes into text, only when you send one. We use Google's paid service, whose terms don't allow Google to train on what we send it. Google keeps it for a limited time only to check for abuse.
  • Web search. When Lyle looks something up for you, such as prices for a job or the value of an item, the search runs through Anthropic's search service. A search can include details like your town or the model of an appliance.
  • Twilio delivers text messages, if you've turned texting on.
  • Signal carries messages if you choose to write to Lyle there.
  • Resend sends our email, such as sign-in links and reminders.
  • Google Workspace holds our email inbox, so anything you email us is kept there.
  • Stripe handles payments, if you pay us. We never see your full card number.

We share information otherwise only when you ask us to (for example, a link you send a contractor or insurer), when the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety. If Lyle is ever sold or merged, your information would go to the new owner under this policy, and we'd tell you first.

Text messages

We don't sell, rent or share your mobile number with anyone for their marketing. Text message opt-in data and consent are never shared with third parties. We give your number to Twilio only so it can deliver our texts. Reply STOP to any text to stop them. More on the texting page.

Your house's record when you sell

A house's record is meant to outlast any one owner. When you sell, you can choose to pass the record and Lyle's note about the house to the buyer. It passes only if you choose to. Your account, your conversation with Lyle and Lyle's note about you stay with you and never go to the buyer.

How long we keep things

  • Your conversation with Lyle: 30 days, then it's deleted automatically. You can clear it sooner.
  • Lyle's notes: until you change or clear them, or close your account.
  • Your house's record and files: as long as you have an account, unless you delete them sooner or pass the record to a buyer.
  • List sign-ups: until you ask us to remove you, or until you become a member.
  • Security records: up to one year.

When you close your account, we delete your account, records, notes and conversation within 30 days. Copies in our providers' backups are overwritten on their normal schedule, and we keep what the law requires us to, such as payment records.

Your choices

Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, give you a copy, or delete it. Many of these you can do yourself in the app. For anything else, email hello@meetlyle.com from the address on your account. We'll answer within 30 days and won't treat you differently for asking.

Security

Your information is encrypted in transit and at rest, and each member can reach only their own records. Files are kept in private storage and shown through links that expire. Links you send contractors and insurers can see only what they were made for, and you can turn them off at any time. No system is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong that affects your information, we'll tell you promptly.

Children

Lyle is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change matters, such as a new use of your information, we'll tell members by email or in the app before it takes effect.
